 In KhAI such research projects in the following fields are conducted:

- research in the field of subsonic and supersonic aerodynamics ;

- testing new models of aircraft with dynamically similar flying models;

- comprehensive studies of fatigue and endurance of aircraft structures;

- the development of unmanned aerial vehicles for surveillance, mapping and other purposes;

- technology and equipment for high-speed forming (explosion stamping, electro-stamping, pulse blanks cutting, pulse chips bricketing, etc.);

- welding of dissimilar non-ferrous metals;

- coating technology with special properties (ion-plasma, gas-jet, gas detonation, etc.);

- the design of composite structures;

- the development of medical diagnostic and information computer systems;

- development of highly efficient aircraft engines;

- system design technology;

- design and development of unconventional energy systems (using solar panels, wind energy, etc.);

- remote sounding of the surface from the aerospace vehicles;

- development of aircraft management and control systems;

- development of equipment on an air cushion, etc.

 Interesting facts that will persuade you to study in Ukraine KhAI:

 In HAI four vintage aircraft were recreated "from scratch". The first aircraft was M-9 for “Takeoff” movie about youth of Sergei Korolev. Now it is disassembled in HAI . The second was the "Nieuport-4" for "Joker" movie, which now hangs in Moscow night club of Anton Tabakov. (Both films were shot at the Odessa Film Studio). A third plane was Po-2 (2005-2008). Fourth, in 2010, was "Farman-4" with Mazda engine.

 The University is a co-executor of the Alpha International Space Program, as well as research projects together with U.S., Japanese, German, Mexican, Dutch, and Chinese companies.

Until the 1970s, on the territory of the Institute there was the airfield of KhAI, one of the six military airfields in Kharkiv. At the moment, it is partly built up, for several decades it cannot be used.

 The “freebie” monument is erected on campus.
