EEUA in Rwanda

March 09-12, 2014, EEUA traveled to the capital of Rwanda – city - to take part in International Education fair and hold a scholarship competition for studying at Russian technical universities.

Rwandan students were interested to find out more about the possibilities of studying in Russia, language requirements and admission procedure. The students were excited to know that Russian universities offer about 50 degrees in English and about 5 courses in French (including the most demanded course – General medicine).

Overall the fair was crowded with students of different ages and education backgrounds who asked both about Bachelor and Master programs. EEUA distributed informative leaflets, helped the students find the appropriate university for their course and explained in detail what the students have to do to apply to the university.

Particular excitement was aroused by the news that starting from this year all foreign students are also allowed to work part-time (up to 20 hours) while studying in Russia. As many Rwandan students would like to support their everyday life expenses in Russia, e.g. food and transport or even accommodation, they were glad to hear that this is possible in Russia.

The students actively took part in the scholarship competition in Mathematics according to the results of which about 1-3 students will be awarded full scholarship to study their 1st year of undergraduate program in technical universities in Russia.

Besides that, EEUA visited several high schools and the Russian Embassy in Kigali.

EEUA believes the intake from Rwanda is going to increase dramatically over the years to come as a great number of young Rwandans have already shown great interest and strong intentions to study in Russia.
