Donbas National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture

 Donbas National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DonNACEA) was founded January 1, 1972. It is one of the largest engineering universities of Ukraine.

 More than 60 years DonNASA trains specialists for construction and architecture, first as a department, and since 1972 as an independent institution of higher education. In Donetsk and Lugansk regions DonNACEA is the only educational institution which trains architects, specialists of urban construction and management, economists and managers for construction, roads and airfields designers.

 The academy has trained more than 30,000 engineers and architects (including over 500 foreign nationals). Over the years the Academy prepared 30 doctors of Science and 250 PhDs who work in many countries worldwide. Today more than 8,000 students from Ukraine, CIS, Africa, Middle East and Asia study in Ukraine Academy and its branches.

 The educational process is carried out in the Academy by 436 teachers, including 55 PhDs, professors and 242 associate professors.

 In 2004, the Academy building specialties "Industrial and civil construction", "Highways and airports", "Urban Construction and Management", "Architecture of buildings and structures" were re-accredited by the International Institute of Civil Engineers ICE (UK) with the European training on Bachelor and Master Degrees (diploma is recognized in 143 countries worldwide). The Academy is the only university in Ukraine, which passed the procedure of professional international accreditation.

 Rector of the Academy, Professor Evgeniy Gorokhov is the only specialist in the Ukraine, who has the highest level of professional certification in ICE (Fellow). 10 more specialists - managers of construction companies of Donetsk region and teachers of the Academy received professional certification in ICE. Also, more than 100 students of the Academy are certified as student members of the Institute. It gives them an opportunity to use databases of the construction industry in educational and scientific process.

 Organizations, where certified professionals work, have the ability to attract foreign investments and to protect domestic producers more effectively.

 Since 2002, the Academy has started the procedure of accreditation of educational process and scientific research on the quality management system according to the requirements of the ISO-9001. First in 2004 and in 2007 Academy was the only university in Ukraine and CIS to be accredited and receive a certificate of conformity to ISO.

 The training process in the Academy is held with European Steel Design Education Program - ESDEP. DonNACEA is the only institution within the former USSR, which is an associate member of ESDEP.

 Practical implementation of research in the academy is the creation of a Transmission Towers and Tower Structures Test Polygon. It is the only in Ukraine and most powerful unique structure in the world. Polygon allowed Ukrainian manufacturers of structural metal to enter the global market. Over the years its work saved 7,700 tons of new grid structures, the economic effect is 23.4 million UAH.

 Academy works with more than 30 universities and enterprises of 12 countries: Russia, China, Lithuania, Sweden, United  Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and others.

 Research areas: 

  1. Monitoring and improving the reliability of overhead power lines at the impact of icing and wind loads and effects;
  2. Technical evaluation of overhead power lines under the action of loads and impacts of climate;
  3. Development of scientific and methodological approaches to the justification of operating loads and effects models used in the monitoring of unique buildings and structures;
  4. The study of optimal constructive forms of combined large-span spatial coverage of buildings and structures;
  5. Development of models of operating loads and monitoring of large-span structures;
  6. Development of strength criterion and deformation relations for space-intensive elements of reinforced high-strength concrete structures;
  7. The study of creep deformation of high-strength concrete in plane stress and high temperatures, the development of strength criterion and strain relations;
  8. Structural building products of increased durability with technogenic raw materials;
  9. Technology of production of asphalt-concrete and cement-concrete mixtures using technogenic raw materials for the construction of durable non-rigid and rigid road pavements;
  10. The development of the fundamentals of physical and chemical kinetics of nucleation and crystallization of crystalline hydrates to produce materials with a given      structure and properties that are used in modern technology for their synthesis;
  11. Quantum mechanical study of the energy spectrum of pinch structural defects in diamond in the strong-coupling approximation
  12. The latest technologies of water supply, sewerage, heating.
